Report: Rodmersham 2s won the toss and opted to bat first in the sunshine at Bottles Lane. On a good track, with a quick outfield and short boundary one side a score of 250 was considered the minimum but, despite a fine 76 from Jamie Horne, poor shot selection from the middle order looked to be leading the home side towards embarrassment at 145-7.
However, a scintillating stand of 122 in 13 overs between Jack Bayford (80) and Mark Jewiss (51 not out) took the home team to an eventual 275 all out with four balls of the 50 remaining.
The visitors rarely threatened a chase, however, seemingly content to play out a draw with their skipper happy to make sure of his second consecutive unbeaten ton at Rodmersham. The home attack worked hard for the six wickets taken, three falling to Mark Jewiss and fielded well but had to settle for 12 points in the end which moves them 25 clear of the drop-zone in Division 4.
