Report: Rodmersham 2s were yet again asked to field first at a dry Wickham Park but got off to a fine start with two early wickets claimed by Naj Hashimi. At 19-2 the home side appeared in trouble and could have been worse off had a sharp chance been taken when their top batter, a former 1s player, was on only 4. However, the chance went down and he went on to record a fine 139, the last man out from the final ball of the home innings, helped in no small part by a generally sloppy fielding display from their visitors.
As below par as they were with the ball, however, Rodmersham were impressive with the bat and comfortably passed their target with 15 balls to spare. Dan Pumfrett, Lee Jackson and Matt Baker built the platform but the real impetus came from Dan Ansley who crashed 39 from only 17 balls in a sixth wicket stand of 67 with Graeme Corner before he and Matt Jewiss closed out the match, Corner posting his first half century for the club with a quite superb 73 not out.
