Report: Yet again without an umpire, Rodmersham had to forfeit the toss on a hot afternoon at Bottles Lane and not surprisingly found themselves in the field as the visitors took advantage of a good track and fast outfield to post 256-8 from their 50 over allocation.
The home side performed well, however, in difficult conditions with Matt Jewiss the pick of the attack with three wickets from his 15 overs.
Rodmersham's response got off to a poor start but a fine stand of 116 between Matt Godden and Matt Baker put the home side in pole position for a successful chase.
However, the next 5 wickets fell for 61 runs and despite lower order heroics once again from Jack Bayford with a well constructed 48 Rodmersham fell just 15 runs short with only 8 balls to face.
Seven valuable points were gained in defeat, however, as Rodmersham's second team face a survival battle themselves as the second half of the season nears.
