Report: Wickham Park won the toss and opted to bat first at Bottles Lane on Saturday, taking full advantage of a lightningly quick outfield and slightly below par home attack to register an impressive 266 all out with 4 balls of their 50 over allocation remaining, perhaps 20 or so more than might have seemed likely at one stage. Rodmersham's Aussie, Jarryd "Flash" Gordon, bagged three wickets with two apiece claimed by Dylan Emmett and Michael Jones.
In response, the home side got off to a sound start but the loss of four crucial wickets curtailed their progress. Dave Cogger and Nick Denly showed the younger batters how to go about things with 60-plus scores each but Rodmersham finished 11 runs short of victory at the close of their overs. Eight valuable points for the home side but not enough to move them out of Division 4's bottom two at the season's halfway mark
