Report: Rodmersham's unexpectedly disappointing season continued with a defeat at Sidcup when a long-for victory appeared more likely.
Opting to bat first, Rodmersham recovered from the early loss of two wickets but, on a sharply turning track, never quite fired in reaching a respectable 209-8 from their 50 overs, captain Nick Denly top scoring with 61.
In reply the home side made a sound start but slumped from 45-1 to 85-7, the wickets shared between Kevin Jones and Jarryd Gordon, before their number 9 came in to thrash an unbeaten 85 - his fourth consecutive fifty batting at 7 or lower! - to snatch the win with seven balls to spare.
The loss leaves Rodmersham in the bottom two with the half way point of the season approaching, not where they expected to be when the campaign began.
