Catford Wanderers II v Rodmersham II
July 1st, 2006
A dark day in the Clubs' history. Rather than play cricket, a number of our members opted to watch television and witness England's predictably abortive attempt to win the Jules Rimet Trophy.
This resulted in a dearth of availability which left the Club no option but to concede their 2nd XI Kent League fixture with Catford Wanderers. This is the first time the Club has conceded a League game during 29 years of playing League Cricket. Interestingly, we were the only Club in the Kent League to have this 'problem' - all other Clubs honoured their fixture obligations. Two records in one day - our cup runneth over!
For the collective sins of these members the Kent League fined the Club £50 and deducted 20 points from our 2nd XI league total.
To date, no offers of donations towards the fine or apologies for the Club's embarrassment have been forthcoming.
