Match Report
| Rodmersham II | v | Walmer II |
| Match Type | Kent League |
| Venue | Bottles Lane |
| Date | Sat 18th June 2005 |
| Result | Rodmersham(20pts) beat Walmer(3pts) by 139 runs |
On a scorching hot day Walmer won the toss and asked Rodmersham to bat - such are the vagaries of Kent League Cricket.
Having committed themselves to a minimum three hour toil in oppressive heat, the visitors were made to pay the price as the Rodmersham batsmen scored at will to post the challenging total of 242 for 8. Promoted to bat at number four Paul Mansell, more used to the lower order, was in obvious danger of getting a nose bleed! Ignoring such comments he proceeded to strike 16 fours (he felt it was too hot to run) in scoring 87 from 84 balls. Given the failure of nine first eleven "batsmen" to even reach double figures this week his performance should not go unnoticed by the selectors.
The Walmer response never really got off the ground as Tony Bond took 6 for 17 from 15 overs to leave them reeling at 74 for 6. The lower order put up some staunch resistance but their last wicket fell in the 45th over with the score on 103 to give Rodmersham a resounding 139 run victory.
