Rodmersham inflicted the first East Kent League defeat of the season on league leaders Canterbury on Sunday.

Electing to bat first, Rodmersham scored 221 for 5 from their 40 overs thanks primarily to Piet Botha (91) and Kevin Jones (41).

Although the Canterbury batsmen came out with all guns blazing they  never got the measure of some excellent  bowling and were dismissed in 30 overs for 106 to give Rodmersham a resounding 115 run victory. Bowling honours went to 14 year old leg spinner Tom Roach who took 4 for 22 from 8 overs.
