Match Report

             Rodmersham v Bapchild

Match Type Friendly (45 overs per side)
Venue Bottles Lane
Date Sun 24th April 2004
Result Rodmersham Won By 84 runs

Rodmersham won this start of season pipe opener by the comfortable margin of 84 runs.

Batting first on a pitch of low but consistent bounce, Rodmersham were reduced to 56 for 4 after 23 of their 45 over allocation thanks primarily to shot selection inappropriate to the conditions. There followed an excellent unbroken partnership between Dave Cogger(78*) and Stuart Blackbourn(59*) who added 143 runs from the last 22 overs and demonstrated that sensible application of basic batting technique can overcome most conditions.

The 200 total required for victory proved to great for Bapchild as they were dismissed for 115 in 36.2 overs. Only S Larson(57) showed any form with the bat as eight of his team mates were dismissed for single figures.
