On a benign pitch which rendered 500 runs in an afternoon at better than a run a ball, the inevitable draw gave rise to some entertaining cricket.

Rodmersham batted first with opener Michael Jones (109) continuing his rich vein of form by scoring his second century in his last three innings. Neil Barton(100) gave a magnificent display of power stroke play hitting 13 fours and 4 sixes in his century as Rodmersham raced to 274 for 4 dec.

Upchuch gave a spirited response with three of their batsmen scoring forties. Some wayward Rodmersham bowling yielded 57 extras which were gratefully accepted by the visitors as they closed on 226 for 3.
