Sidcup were asked to bat and posted a score of 205 for 9 thanks primarily to Alan McCawley (56) and Dave Bradley(47). Paul Mansell bore the brunt of the bowling taking 3 for 48 in 15 overs.
The Rodmersham reply lacked any real substance and they were reduced to 99 for 8 after 29 overs. This brought together 11 year old Christopher Piesley(15*) and 12 year old Christian Marsh (19*) who batted out the remaining 21 overs without ever looking like getting out to earn Rodmersham an unlikely draw. This remarkable performance by these two young men left them wondering why the earlier batsmen had found life so difficult.
