Old Wilsonians elected to bat first but lost their way after putting on 159 for the first two wickets and could only manage 187 for 7 from their 50 overs. N Treacher (69) and S Corrigall (49) were the main contributors whilst Richard Cooper took 3 wickets for 12 runs from 8 overs.
Andrew Drury (43) and James Anderson (40) put Rodmersham in a strong position whereby they needed only 63 runs to win from 25 overs with 8 wickets in hand. From this seemingly impregnable position the Rodmersham batsmen proceeded to write a new chapter in the book "How To Grab Defeat From The Jaws Of Victory". They seemed to discover devils in the pitch which simply did not exist as they sacrificed their last eight wickets for 36 runs and conceded dishonourable defeat by 4 runs.
