This game saw Piet Botha achieve the remarkable Kent League season milestone of 1063 runs (Average 106.3) and 51 wickets (Average 12.71).

Catford were asked to bat and did well to recover from a slow start and post a score of  210 all out. G Hands(70) held the Catford innings together whilst Piet Botha returned the excellent figures of 7 for 55.

Rodmersham were confident of achieving the modest victory target of 211. However, they had not taken into account the slow over rate of the  Catford bowlers that would force them to bat in twilight. Piet Botha had scored an excellent 75 when he was controversially adjudged run out. Despite a quick fire 27 in 16 balls by Neil Barton, the rapidly declining light caused Rodmersham to lose 4 wickets for 11 runs in just 4 overs to give the Catford pace attack some flattering figures. The umpires brought the players off at 7- 50 pm as they considered it dangerous to continue. At this stage Catford had bowled 45 overs in 3 hours and 25 minutes against the 50 overs that the League require them to bowl in 3 hours!

Rodmersham, who play Bobbing Court in their last League game next week, now require a net gain of 9 points over Barbados Overseas if they are to gain promotion.
