Rodmersham kept their promotion hopes alive with a resounding 9 wicket victory over second placed City of London.
Electing to bat first, City of London never came to terms with the tight Rodmersham attack which was backed up by excellent fielding. Only the stubborn Robin Bailey (62 in 3 hours) made any headway and five of the later batsmen got out for ducks in an unsuccessful attempt to increase the run rate as the visitors were dismissed for 171. Piet Botha (5 for 36) and Darren Nokes (4 for 52) accounted for the wickets with magnificent support from Chris Whitehead who bowled 15 overs for 30 runs despite being physically sick from the effects of heat exhaustion.
Despite losing an early wicket with the score on 6, an unfinished partnership of 167 by Piet Botha (78*) and Colin Mason(68*) saw Rodmersham romp to victory with 13.1 overs to spare.
