A solid all round team performance enabled Rodmersham to overcome some difficult playing conditions and register their first Kent League victory of the season.
Roan & Lambethians could only muster135 for 7 from their 50 overs as they struggled against an accurate Rodmersham attack supported by good fielding. All of the bowlers returned excellent figures with Piet Botha (3 for 48 ) being the main wicket taker.
The Rodmersham response got off to a good start with 40 runs coming from the first 11 overs. A change of bowling reduced the scoring rate with only Piet Botha(34) making any impression as the score crept to 63 for 4 from 24 overs. In the next 8 overs Neil Barton (35 from 27 balls) and Stuart Blackbourn (26) progressed the score to 125 for 4 to set up an eventual 4 wicket victory for Rodmersham.
