In a match reduced to 88 overs due to wet pitch conditions, Rodmersham were put at a disadvantage by the non arrival of one of their players. Invited to bat, Walmer took advantage of some erratic bowling to score 167 for 6 from their 44 overs. Fourteen year old Daniel Mason showed his senior colleagues how to bowl in wet conditions, taking 4 for 32 in 7 overs of leg spin.
Rodmersham's response got off to a disastrous start when they were reduced to 11 for 3 after 10 overs. A steadying innings from James Anderson (39}gave Rodmersham the opportunity to entertain the possibility of victory. Despite an excellent knock from 14 year old Richard Cooper (36*) with good support from Peter Day(22) and Neil Cheesman(15*), Rodmersham had to settle for a losing draw.
