A mass outbreak of Bank Holiday weekend Cup Finalitis resulted in Rodmersham 2nd XI losing several players to the 1st XI and having to play Wye 2nd XI with just 8 players. Wye took full advantage of this situation electing to bat first and exploit the fact that Rodmersham were restricted to only two fielders outside the 30 yard circle. M Probert found this novelty very much to his liking, scoring a massive 163 enabling his side to declare at 257 for 6 after 45 overs.

Much to their credit the decimated Rodmersham side batted for 49.1 overs before conceding inevitable defeat. Skipper Trevor Jackson lead the way with an excellent 89 and with good support from the rest of his team almost earned an unlikely draw.

The 8 men who represented Rodmersham are deserving of high praise for playing Cricket rather than succumbing to an afternoon of sloth like so many of their club mates who preferred to sit in front of a TV drinking in the opium of the masses.
