With their score at 55 for 0 wkt after 12 overs, Rodmersham looked set to post a challenging score. However, the introduction of J Shepherd(6 for 41 in 21 overs) into the attack signalled an all too familiar batting collapse as the score deteriorated to 80 for 6 after29 overs. Only Simon Morley(46) and Piet Botha(39) showed any form as Rodmersham struggled to 152 for 9 from their 50 overs.

The Bexleyheath response stood at 71 for 1 after 24 overs when Darren Nokes joined the attack to partner Piet Botha (4 for 55 in 20 overs). Eight overs later Bexleyheath had been reduced to 84 for 6 and Rodmersham harboured genuine hopes of victory. At this stage Nokes, who had taken 2 for 8 from 4 overs, was  removed from the attack and Bexleyheath scored 66 runs from the next 10 overs to record a comfortable victory.'
