After losing both openers with the score at 66, Kevin Jones (93*) and Andrew Drury (74) put on 133 for the third wicket with an outstanding display of batting to give Rodmersham the formidable total of 255 for 3 from their 50 overs.

Dover lost their first two wickets with the score on seven. This brought Simon Morris to the wicket with all guns blazing as he proceeded to score 67 runs from 42 balls ,including eight fours and three sixes, before holing out on the mid wicket boundary. His departure signalled the end of Dover's resistance as they were dismissed for 128 in 26.4 overs. South African Piet Botha returned figures of 6 for 48 despite suffering heavily at the hands of Morris.
