Addington

v

Rodmersham II

Match Type Forester Kent League
Venue Addington
Date Sat 7th July 2001
Result Rodmersham (16pts*) beat Addington(6pts) by 1 wkt     [*minus 1 pt - slow over rate]

Addinton batted steadily to post a respectable but seemingly gettable 165 for 6 from their 50 overs. Neil Cheesman (3 for 27 in 12 overs took the Rodmersham bowling honours.

The "gettable" victory target of 166 took on astronomic proportions when Rodmersham collapsed to 36 for 6 after only 12 overs. This brought colt Kanul Patel to the wicket to score an excellent 36 before getting out with the score at 98 for9 and defeat still a strong probability. Darren Nokes(18*) then joined Neil Cheesman(46*) and put on 68 runs for the last wicket in an unbroken partnership to gain the most unlikely of victories.
