Rodmersham's Kent League fortunes took a turn for the better on Saturday when their batting realised its' potential after spending most of the season in the doldrums. Electing to bat first Rodmersham posted the challenging total of 247 for 8 from their 50 overs built around an excellent innings by Jim Ansley(77) with good support from the other batsmen. P Robinson was the only bowler who caused any concern, returning figures of 7 for 57 from 18 overs.
Despite the "batsman friendly" nature of the pitch, the Sidcup innings began disastrously when Lee Gregory (3 for 35 from 13 overs) and Chris Whitehead (2 for 37 from 16 overs) reduced them to 31 for 5 after only 15 overs. P Robinson (68*) and B Davies(28*) then entered stonewall defensive mode and spent the remaining 35 overs adding only 98 runs to the score. The use of seven bowlers, failed to convince Sidcup to take a more positive approach and their innings closed on 129 for 5 to give Rodmersham a "win draw".
