With a 35 yard boundary on one side likely to inflate scores, Sibton Park batted first and scored 250 for 4 with S Hickmott (80} and A Towse(56*) top scoring.
Rodmersham commenced their innings with a draw the most likely result, always assuming that they applied themselves to the task in hand. Alas, this was not to be. After 12 overs they had struggled to17 for 1.The innings ended 13.3 overs later with Rodmersham all out for 67. Token resistance, commitment and personal pride would seem to have gone out of fashion and Sibton Park must have been astounded by the magnitude and ease of their victory. P McClearey (6 for 27) must have thought it was Christmas and his birthday rolled into one as batsmen offered him their wickets in some ritualistic form of collective suicide.
The Rodmersham team will be able to tell their grand children that they were part of the side that suffered the biggest and most humiliating defeat in the Club's 116 year history.
