Hayes

v

Rodmersham

Match Type Forester Kent League
Venue Hayes
Date Sat 9th June 2001
Result Hayes (16pts) beat Rodmersham (6pts) by 71 runs

After this defeat Rodmersham  are repeating last season's flirtation with relegation by dropping into the bottom four of the league, where the teams are separated by a mere 4 points.

Hayes batted first, their first 5 batsmen all scoring steadily, posting a respectable score of 228 for 9 with J Askew (60) top scoring. As is so often the case, Chris Whitehead was the bedrock of  Rodmersham's bowling taking 5 for 55 from 21 overs.

Rodmersham's response was not helped when they lost their first 2 wkts for 3 runs. Despite a dogged innings by Dave Cogger (49) and some good  performances from three middle order batsmen, Rodmersham never looked  like winning and were dismissed for 157. J Askew rounded off a good all round performance, taking 5 for 29.
